Blog Action Day

Bloggers Unite - Blog Action Day
Today is blog action day. The aim is to get "Everyone talking about a better future". Surely you would say, stop talking, lets do it.

It does not really take rocket science to reduce our footprint on the environment. Some of the things we can do are cheap and easy and also imprpove our lifestyle - riding a bycicle instead of driving, growing food instead of bying. It depends though, some of you would not agree that riding a bycicle is improvement of life style. Therefore, I dont want to get into the "what you can do for a green living"
Some of you are rather sceptical on the subject, but even the sceptical ones, care, so if you are in the mood or when you are in the mood lets commit to 3 things you would enjoy doing and which lead to "a better future".
The 1st thing for me is an immediate "go"
1. Starting today I am using www.blackle.com instead of www.google.com. Same work less energy. COMMENT. I have to correct this statement. Since I posted this till today i have been using blackle, however just found out that it is not saving energy, therefore as of today Jan. 15th, 2008 I go back to google.Second is mid term (within next 2 months)
2. I will plant 3 new trees and replant 6 that are growing in the "wrong" place.
Third is the long-term NOT YET
3. I will work for creating a centre for alternartive technologies aiming research and promotion of alternative means to food, energy, transport. A perma culture centre. IN PROGRESS
One of the common defintions of perma culture, citing Peter Whitefield book the Earthcare manual, is "taking natural ecosystems as the model of our human habitats. Natural ecosystems, are almost by definition sustainable, and if we can understand how they work we can use that understanding to make our own lives more sustainable."
So, lets make 3 commitments today - shortterm, midterm and longterm
finally when we have the chance lets observe and follow nature as it is always the best source of ideas on how to improve our lifes and our future.
In 2 months i will come back on the subject and see my progress, if you are willing to share your experiences please send comments to this blog.

If you're trying to save the planet and you have an LCD monitor, don't use google. A quick test on a watt meter proved that it uses more power. Click the link then click the video.
