Water again!

Here is 15th of October again - blog action day. The topic - water. My last post was also related to water and has set 3 goals: rainwater harvesting accomplised, indoor compost toilet and biological cleansing of water. I am glad to say now 10 months later we have indoor compost toilet in one of the 2 houses (so 50% done), grey water from the kitchen and bathroom is cleansed in a small constructed wetland and we have 6cubes of rainwater tanks (of which 4 operational). We learned the easiest way to cleanse greywater is in the soil. More info on www.permaship.org

During our June permaculture course we made 2 little pond, which are stage towards a big pond, aiming aquaculture and possibly fish growing. For now we are becoming familiar with the edible new plants in our ponds, such as sagittaria sagifolia, sedge, water mint, duckweed, water plantain and others.
Aquaculture has massive potential which is not widely known. Aquaculture's harvest compared to earth's culture harvest (given equal amount of energy and nutrients inputs) is 4 to 20 times more. Why? You may want to read what Bill Mollison has to say on the subject.
