Healthy Meal in Sofia

- And for you Sir, would you like a drink?
- Diet coke, please.
- I am sorry we have no diet coke. It is not healthy for you

If you find this conversation entertaining you have the first reason to visit Kibea Restaurant in Sofia, the healthy food restaurant.

Feeling hungry and exhaust I left home with the intention to dine. The thought of the next door pizzeria with lousy food and tiny yard full of shouting smokers, made me walk a few blocks further. I was passing by restaurants and cafes, but none of them attracted my attention, most of them resembling the pizzeria.

The thought of nice food made me think of Kibea, where I never was before, as rarely I was lucky to be with entirely non-smoking company. This time being alone I had that condition met.

My clothing was really lay-down, (read shabby), so that in order to feel comfortable of going there alone, I said to myself that they would never know if I am not one of those critics writing articles, so most likely they would behave. The staff was so amicable though, that I think even my shyest friends would feel cozy there. I hope. The atmosphere was not extremely unique, but was nice, bright and comfortable.

A recent vegetarian, last meat course being my mom’s turkey for Christmas, I haven’t followed any direction in my meals in the past few months, so reading the menu showed me that my diet can definitely be more balanced and diverse.

The delicious meal I had, consisted of

- Seared goat cheese garnished with Bluberry Relish and Arugula salad with Alfaalfa Sprouts
- Zuccini and wall nuts puree soup
- Risoto with sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, fresh vegetables and olives
- Mursalski cai – herbal tea from the Pirin mountain

This meal was what inspired me to write this blog and made me feel energy again in my veins.

To add a few more, as this article shaped as a restaurant critique – the wine list and music were profound, with wine prices starting at 24 lv for Shataut due Val.
Music – Buena vista mood and after 9pm coupled with candles and more quiet lamps.

And to finish with a note that unfortunately becomes an issue at other places. The selection of mineral water was Devin in glass bottles. Тhis really made me content as in other places it happened that you ask for mineral water and instead you are given sth called Savina, which represents water created using "state of the art technology of reverse osmosis" (as marked on the label). I suppose that a gas turbine would really feel fit when injected with high quality reverse osmosis treated water, but for me - good old Rhodopi water is what makes me tick.
