This is a workspace for ideas, projects and actions on the topic of critical consumption.
The basic primary definition of the concept “Critical Consumption” would be assumed as:
"Consumer behaviour, where the consumer makes consumption choices, based on predefined criteria, based on environmental sustainability, health and safety risks, animal welfare, fair trade, labour conditions, and human rights, etc.
The purpose of this blog is to
- generate ideas and issues to serve as a base of discussion and focus for the Seminar on Critical Consumtion & Sustainable Development in Sofia Feb 3rd- Feb 9th
- Provide practical information on the concept of being a critical consumer
- Provide information on sustainable choices, available in Sofia and not only
- Provide space for sharing best practices in the field
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
The general objective of the project is to study the level of citizens’ responsibility in their consumption choices and by means of using workout techniques to create practical guidelines for being a critical consumer.
The specific objectives are:
§ To compare practical ideas, activities and information among different European associations on the subject of Critical consumption and sustainable development
§ To define the concept “Critical Consumption” and to provide evidence for its importance in developing sustainable society. To shape specific messages that can be used through different media in the participating countries.
§ To involve local citizens and media/local partners in the seminar through open presentation of the project results and through meetings during the project
§ To start a relationship among the project partners to organise common future projects on the topic inside the “Youth” Programme (Exchanges, EVS, Youth Initiatives, Support Measures)

My proposal is to give a global definition about the 'critical consumption and sustainable development' topic and afterwords, through this definition, to make individual one comming from every country participating in the seminar.
Here are some simple ideas on ethical and critical consumption:
1.Buy seasonal food
2.Buy food which is least prossesed and least packed
3.Buy food and goods locally produced
4.Buy directly from produssers,if possible
5.Support small scale farms and local enterprises.
6.Do not support systems which pollute,force or distroy any form of nature ,aiming a temporary economical income.
7.Save and conserve energy (incuding any resources as heat and drinking water)by modest and ethical use.
8.Let's arrange our own houses and gardens in a way that they support our energy needs by creating eco-systems which have the stability and diversity of natural systems.(study Permaculture,which provides knolege for creating sustainable disigns for human households)
9.Get information on products' ingredients and their impact on human health.Increase your knolege and share it!
